The Rogue River Gorge

As we headed out the west side of Crater Lake National Park to make our way toward Crescent City, CA we were driving along the Rogue River unbeknownst to us...until we started seeing signs for the gorge.  Already being a huge fan of the Columbia River Gorge, we had to check it out and were rewarded greatly.

This was cool, it's called a living stump.  Though the tree was cut down years ago, it's roots were so intertwined with the tree next to it that the stump continues to grow and live.

What a gorgeous group in the gorgeous gorge.

It may be a bit difficult to see but this area is called Natural Bridge.  Way back when, hot magma ran below the surface of the rock cutting a hole right through the rock for what's now the river to flow through.  Essentially the river is visible above where this picture is taken and then it disappears while it flows below the natural bridge and then reappears.

This was a shot of the Rogue River as we passed over it at one point.  It flows all the way to the Pacific Ocean.  I will for sure be back to this area.  So many places we passed by and didn't go see!
