Cody

Our second day in Cody, WY started off with this:
It was very fun but only 9am and quite cloudy so...cold! We went over a couple class 3 rapids and got pretty soaking wet.  Annika was shivering and Gannon and Calla were sure their feet were going to fall off!  I couldn't argue with them; their feet were in standing ice cold water between the seats and were darn cold!  We did see a golden eagle with a baby that was learning to hunt so that was awesome.  No pictures though because we didn't bring our camera for obvious (wet) reasons!  The extra is Lawson, our rafting guide.

These super fun chairs were outside the Irma Hotel.  We did not tell Gannon and Calla to grab Annika's butt, they just did that so I'm not sure what that says about our family!  A bit of a history...Cody, WY is named for Buffalo Bill Cody famous for his traveling Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show.  He started the town of Cody wanting to stop touring and settle in one place.  He facilitated the building of the Irma Hotel and named it after one of his daughters.  Inside it is an unbelievable cherry bar, a gift from Queen Victoria after Buffalo Bill took his show on tour in England and the Queen attended one of his shows.

Also inside the Irma Hotel is a very impressive collection of great horned sheep.  One hunter's collection dating back many years.  It put in me the burning desire to see a Bighorn Sheep in the Bighorn Mountains!

Madison people, do you remember when we had the painted cows all over?  Cody had these and I absolutely LOVED them!  I wanted to buy one!  I thought one would look great in our entry way!
Please let me know if you ever find a town that has horses!

Not sure if you've noticed but someone likes to pose for pictures!

There's a big beautiful museum in Cody; really an outstanding place, so much history!  We spent about 2 hours there and could have stayed much longer.  The art exhibit was so awesome.  I need to go back without children so I can spend time reading everything!

This little picturesque beauty was just waiting for me in an area outside the museum!
